How do I prove that I took a disputed photo?

If I don’t use a watermark or label of any type on the image, can’t someone just say they shot the image and claim the copyright for themselves? How do I prove that I took the image?

Watermarks and labels can help deter theft, although determined people could still possibly crop or Photoshop out such protections. I’ve not heard of a big problem with people claiming copyright for themselves, but if that happened to you, then you could supply background information to show that you took the photo and used it first.
