Apple iPhone 5S: 8MP cameraphone
Larger sensor, larger aperture, faster processor, dual flash, and improved software combine to make the world’s most popular camera even better.
The Apple iPhone 5S introduced today retains the same 8 MP resolution as the iPhone 5, but has many improvements significant to photographers:
- 15% larger sensor
- Larger ƒ/2.2 aperture
- Those two combined mean 33% increase in light collected by sensor
- 64-bit processor
- True Tone flash (two LED flashes for varied color temperature)
- Improved backside illumination sensor
- Faster focusing (probably due to the faster processor)
- Faster burst mode of 10fps
- Instagram-like 1:1 format with built-in filters
- Matrix metering
- Auto-image stabilization
- OpenGL ES 3.0 for visual effects
