Pigeon Point Lighthouse

This is one of the west’s most photogenic lighthouses. Built of brick in 1872 and in continuous use since, it is the second-tallest lighthouse in the US. The rightmost building is a small hostel where you can stay the night.

This shot is taken from Highway 1, just south of the lighthouse. Placing the lighthouse to the right of the frame emphasizes the rocky coast line it protects.
