Palmer City-Core Union Park Hotel

Proposing the Charlie Palmer Hotel (426 rooms) in downtown. Located on 3.1 acres in Union Park, the 426-room non-gaming resort will include at least 100 condo-hotel rooms. A joint venture between celebrity chef Charlie Palmer and San Francisco-based City-Core Development. Palmer previously proposed a 400-unit condo-hotel on the site of the defunct Golden Palms Hotel-Casino, but that deal fell through.

Paramount Worldwide Gaming

A subsidiary of Royal Palm Communities, the majority owner of Royal Palm Las Vegas LLC, developer of Paramount (1,800 rooms?) on the south Strip by the "Welcome To Las Vegas" sign on the site of the old Klondike.

PBL (Publishing & Broadcasting Limited)

In 2007, PBL split into two separate companies: Crown LTD and Consolidated Media Holdings. 38% of Crown's stock is owned by Consolidated Press Holdings, Ltd, a private company led by James D. Packer. James Packer is Australia's richest tycoon. At the time of the split of PBL, Crown owned:

• 19.6% (April 2006) of Fontainebleau Resorts which is building Fontainebleau Las Vegas (opening 2009, 3,889-room hotel including 2,719 standard rooms, 152 suites and 1,018 luxury condominium-hotel units).
• 37.5% (2006) of LVT1, LLC which is building Crown Las Vegas, a 5,000-room hotel with two 1,000-plus-foot-tall towers.
• 41% of Melco PBL Entertainment (Nasdaq: MPEL) operates the Crown Macau casino.
• 100% (2007) of Cannery Casino Resorts.

The Peebles Corp

In June 2007, announced Las Palmas Hotel and Residences (800 hotel rooms, 1,030 condos, opening 2009). Costing $2.5-billion, there would be one 55-story tower with the hotel and some condos, plus three more 55-story condo towers, all on 13 acres just south of the convention cente. Based in Coral Gables, Florida, Peebles has projects in Miamai.

Based in Las Vegas, Pinnacle owns five "locals" casinos in Nevada, Indiana and Louisiana with the brands Boomtown and Casino Magic. In 2006, Pinnacle made a bid for Aztar Corp, owner of the Tropicana, but lost to Columbia Sussex. Has also shown interest in buying The Sahara. The Chairman and CEO is Daniel Lee.

Planet Hollywood International, Inc.

Teamed with Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. and Bay Harbour Management, LLC to form OpBiz, LLC which owns the Planet Hollywood Las Vegas hotel.

Together, these three companies bought the Aladdin (opened in 2000, 2,567 rooms) hotel in 2003. (The former owner and builder, Aladdin Gaming, declared bankruptcy.) The hotel will be rebranded as Planet Hollywood Hotel and Casino and opened in 2006. CEO Robert Earl controls Planet Hollywood, which he founded in 1991. Westgate Resorts, Ltd. is building Planet Hollywood Villas, a condo-hotel tower. The shopping mall, Miracle Mile (previously Desert Passage), is owned by Boulevard Invest, LLC.

Based in Chicago, The Preferred Hotel Group is a privately-held, shareholder-owned company led by John Ueberroth. Provides branded marketing, sales and service solutions for independently-owned luxury hotels. Las Vegas hotels include the Platinum (owned by Marcus), and Green Valley Ranch and Red Rock Casino (owned by Station Casinos).

Property & Building Corporation Ltd. (PBC Group)

Owns 47.5% of Elad IDB Las Vegas which, in 2007, bought The New Frontier (986 rooms). Traded on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE), PBC is 63% owned by Israeli-based IDB Holdings Corp through subsidiary Discount Investment Corporation.
