How To Turn Your Digital Photos
Into Prints and Gifts
By Andrew Hudson
"I took some great travel photos. I want to make some into cards, calendars and other gifts for my family. How do I do that?"

What a great idea! Remember and share your travel adventures with prints and gifts. You can use a service or make them yourself.

Use A Photo Printing Service
An easy way to make prints and gifts of your digital photos is to use an online printing service. You can create large prints, framed prints, calendars, mugs, mousepads, tote bags, and many other things you haven't even thought of yet.
Once you've opened an account, you can "upload" your photos (i.e. transfer/copy them to the site) either from a web browser or some software provided by the site. Then you can see what your photos will look like as different gifts. The sites will even mail the cards or gifts direct to your family and friends. This is how I make our Christmas cards.

Make Your Own Prints and Gifts
If you have a computer and inkject printer, you can make your own prints. At your local office store you can buy special printing paper, which is thick and available in glossy or matt. (Note however that you could spend as much or more than a printing service on paper and ink cartridges.) Avery makes different sized papers (and layout templates), for labels, cards and other applications.
