Microstock leader iStockphoto has introduced what appears to be a two-tier pricing scheme, separating exclusive photos from non-exclusive photos, and dropping the prices of the latter by 50%.

About 60% of iStock’s photos are now in the “Main” collection with the lower pricing. This is a reversal of increasing their prices from 2006 to 2010 and may trigger a price war, as Fotolia has also reduced their pricing.
