Model Mayhem

The most popular model-finding site is Model Mayhem. This is a free online community where you can read and post ads. It’s up to you to set the expectations and negotiate a price.

To get listed as a photographer with Model Mayhem, you need to submit at least four of your photos featuring adult human models. Children, cars, landscapes, animals, etc. do not count. Include variety with at least two different models or two different locations.

Modeling Agencies

Hiring models directly through Craigslist or Model Mayhem can be hit-or-miss. As Forrest Gump might have said, it’s “like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.”

If you have the budget and you need good models quickly, you can work with a local modeling agency. This is often a small business that has a stable of experienced models on call and can recommend ones for your project. The agency can provide you with headshots and sample photos and can coordinate the scheduling.

Of course, you pay for this service, typically with a percentage overhead. And the models are likely to be priced at a higher rate. The prices depend on the quality of the agency and models, and how well you can negotiate.

There are many modeling agencies so try a search on Google.

Major Modeling Agencies

If you’re reading this book then you’re unlikely to have the budget to hire a top supermodel. But what the heck, let’s pretend you do. Feel emboldened to contact the world’s top modeling agencies:

There’s a social network for creative people called Hatch and there are a lot of experienced models on there who are looking for work.

There’s actually a lot of other talented people on there too — I’ve used it and managed to find actors, photographers, dancers and best of all it’s free!

Check it out: hatchq.com

I am looking for a male and female model for pictures only for my website. Preferably a Black male and the female can be mixed.

I am in the process of doing my website for a perfume oil business.

I need from shoulder up for female and from waist up for male. I would like to see a few profiles.
