Bixby Creek Bridge in Big Sur Like most of Big Sur's Highway 1, this bridge was built in the 1930s mostly by convicts. It is one of the world's highest single-span concrete bridges and was originally named 'Rainbow Bridge'. Summer fog often blankets the area but can make for evocative photographs.
