Apparently you can make money on Flickr. According to Peter Kafka at AllThingsD, the above photo is the best-selling image on Flickr via Getty Images.

Getty licenses the image for $260 a pop, for a 3 MB file, and the lucky photographer is Michael Bodge.

“I honestly had no idea.”
—Mike Bodge, photographer

Michael took the photo in 2008 at a Justice concert. He titled the image “Justice” on Flickr although it’s called “Rock Concert” on GettyImages.

Flickr is owned by Yahoo! Inc. and is one of the world’s largest photo sharing communities. Getty Images’ Flickr Collection, now two years old, has grown to 250,000 images which are available for licensing exclusively on gettyimages.com

“For us, the 250,000 image milestone emphasizes how dynamic and engaged our Flickr community of contributors truly is and we continue to be thrilled by the imagery being creating for this real life collection.”
Andrew Saunders, Getty Images SVP of Creative
